DJ KEVY KEV

Kevy Kev entered the music business as a young teen back in his homeland St Kitts peddling mixtapes, and spending countless hours in various recording studios, absorbing everything around him. His first opportunity to play for an audience was through a local DJ, Ronnie Rascal, where he earned his keep by toting record crates and moving speakers. Kev would play the opening set at "The Lighthouse" where he eventually got the attention he sought after and the rest is history.

After an honorable discharge from the United Staes Air Force, he opened a night club which took his music career to a broader, more substantial level. His love for deejaying had to be put on the back burner to take on the role of club owner/operator. Kev soon returned to the DJ arena as result of his desire to get back to what he enjoyed most; however, the connections he made throughout the music industry while operating the club, swayed him to take his talents from the local scene, to a regional entity, then eventually nationally. Kevy Kev is now on an International level, having performed in different Islands in the Caribbean, USA and Canada.

Kev's musical influences include Calypso, Reggae, Jazz, R&B and even Country music. he recalls his father playing old Chalk Dust Albums, Kitchener, Sparrow, Bob Marley etc; the classics, while his mother exposed him to the sounds of George Benson, Al Jareau, Earl Klugh, the whole Motown scene; plus his Uncle Bruce Skerritt had a major influence on him as a jazz musician. He taught Kev how to dream music as if it was something you could touch and feel. He trained Kev how to hear parts of a song the average ear wasn't listening for.

That being said, Kev's passion for Caribbean music while being influenced by so many different genres of music has molded his ability to have a unique style of delivery.

Kevy Kev has been most fortunate to promote, Emcee, DJ and host concerts, stage shows & club events on the World stage, affording him the opportunity to rub elbows and network with the who’s who in the Reggae, Soca & Hip-Hop industries too numerous to mention.

He is a radio personality in Orlando where he resides, hosting his own weekly specialty show called "The Kevy Kev Mixshow", which airs on Da Flava Radio (Atlanta), with syndication on Freedom Radio 106.5FM (St Kitts), & Vibes Radio 106.1FM (Gambia Africa). Kev's radio presence focuses on promoting Caribbean culture to the fullest, highlighting artists through interviews, keeping the listeners involved through the online chat room, texts & emails, call ins to the studio plus of course his unique energetic style of mixing.

If asked to describe Kev's talent in one word; simply PASSIONATE! His ability to understand that this thing called Show Business is about engaging the audience.
